Evidence of Work
For this project we were tasked with improving an object of our choosing. My group and I all agreed upon recreating a zippo lighter, and to try and find a way to change the color of the flame. First we had to deconstruct our object to understand first how it works. Once this was done we had to figure out a way to manufacture all of these parts. Once all of this was completed, we developed a way to change the color of the flame using chemicals but weren't able to test if it works due to the time constraints and manufacturing new parts issues.
In the end we were only able to fix our lighter since it was originally broken. In a way we succeeded in improving our object but not in the way we were hoping for. We presented our zippo lighter and gave a very detailed version of all the parts, showing each part individually and in an exploded view so the viewer could truly visualize how everything was working to achieve the end result.

Reflection
Over the course of this project my group and I worked on remaking a zippo lighter to find if we could develop a way to change the color of the flame. We split the work up in to four main sections and I was tasked with all of the blueprinting. I learned how to use a caliper very early on, but it wasn't the best tool for the job. A ruler would have been more efficient since some of the parts were too small to get an easily read measurement with the caliper. Another thing I learned how to do was create an expanded view of an item. This is where you show all of the parts inside of an item and show how they all fit together. This was tricky since I had to lay everything out as if you were to build it yourself while also showing how each part fits with one another. One last thing I could have improved upon was my time management. I should have tried to do more work from home to help my team out since my part of the project was mainly class based.
