Project
This project was given to us over the course of a few weeks. After each lesson, we were given a few more words and tasked with adding them to our mind maps. Once we had all of the words down, we then had to show the connections between all of them and how everything relates to everything else.
Content
1. Climate depends on the Earth.
2. Atmosphere is held on the Earth. 3. The Earth reflects sunlight which gives the albedo. 4. Earth holds the green house gasses. 5. Gasses affect the Earth's temperature. 6. Energy correlates to amount of gas. 7. Radiation comes from the sun onto the Earth. 8. The Sun warms the planet. 9. Sun gives our short wave radiation. 10. Radiation is blocked from Earth. 11. Albedo reflects long wave radiation. 12. Sun gives off short wave radiation. 13. Atmosphere controls the weather. 14. Gasses are emitted from power plants. 15. The weather affects the oceans power. 16. The ocean can change height. 17. Power plants run on fossil fuels. 20. Wind affects migration patterns. 21. Weather affects the migration of birds and other creatures. 22. Weather changes the winds power. 23. Weather changes the temperature. 24. Water vapor warms up the planet raising the temperature. 25. Carbon Dioxide warms up the planet changing the temperature. 26. Methane warms up the planet changing the temperature. 27. Nitrous Oxide warms up the planet changing the temperature. 28. Nitrous Oxide changes the weather. 29. Nitrous Oxide is a greenhouse gas 30. Methane is a greenhouse gas. 31. Methane impacts the temperature shift. 32. Water vapor impacts the temperature shift. 33. Climate system is changing the weather. |
Reflection
Over the course of the project I found myself procrastinating less. Given my past record for assignments such as this one, I would normally hold back and wait to do all of the work until the end. With this though I new that I could not wait to start knowing that if I did I would be stacked with work. Another thing I did well over the course of this project was thinking ahead. Each time we were given a word, I wouldn't just randomly place it on the page, but rather think of where it would be the most logical to place the word and make it the easiest for me to continue to place new ones.
One thing that I struggled with was finding connections when there might now have been one. I realized this after the first week or two and instead of connecting to things directly, showed how they both affect one thing that would not be the same without them both. At the start, I wanted all of my lines to be clean and straight, easy to follow whenever someone looked at it. As I kept adding more lines however, I soon reliezed that I was running out of space. In the end, I had to curve some of the lines, but it still looks as clean as before.
