Our Project
We were tasked with creating a product that could help fix the world in a certain area. Our group was tasked with acid rain, killing off all of the crops and making land uninhabitable. Instead of working on solutions that undid the affects of acid rain, we went right to the main source to stop acid rain. To do this we researched different energy solutions and came up with a manure system that takes poo and creates energy out of it.
Content
Acid rain is rainfall made sufficiently acidic by atmospheric pollution that it causes environmental harm, typically to forests and lakes. The main cause is the industrial burning of coal and other fossil fuels, the waste gases from which contain sulfur and nitrogen oxides, which combine with atmospheric water to form acids. We were solving this issue by using different forms of energy to combat this issue, like biogass which is methane and carbon dioxide.
Reflection
This project was one of my more liked ones as it allowed us to choose our own groups and pick a product of our own. Some things that I learned during this project were the effects of acid rain in a certain environment. I went in believing it was something like acid, that would burn through things that it touched, but I quickly realized that was not the case. Acid rain is fine as long as you don't consume it so its easy for us to avoid. However, plants and animals aren't so lucky as they believe its just normal water and will drink/ absorb it leading to their death.
Some things that I liked and disliked about the project were the grading systems of it. In almost every group only one person would get credit for a team thing until that group went up and talked with the teacher. This happened multiple times and it was an annoying mistake.
